Witch Hat Cupcakes

Chocolate cupcakes topped with creamy green cream cheese frosting piped into a short cone and finished with an Oreo witch-hat made from a split Oreo, a dab of orange frosting, a Hershey's kiss, and sprinkles. They take about 55 minutes total and are ideal for Halloween party treats, with the assembled cupcakes refrigerated until serving.

Ingredients

  • 12 cupcakes chocolate cupcakes
  • 6 cookies Oreo
  • 12 pieces Hershey's Chocolate Kisses
  • 1/2 batch cream cheese frosting
  • green and orange food coloring
  • white and orange sprinkles

Instructions

  1. After making the cream cheese frosting, spoon ½ cup of the frosting into a small bowl.
  2. Tint the larger remaining frosting green and the reserved ½ cup orange using food coloring.
  3. Carefully split each of the 6 Oreo cookies in half to create 12 cookie rounds.
  4. Place a very small spoonful of the orange frosting in the center of each Oreo half.
  5. Top each frosted Oreo half with a Hershey's kiss and press down to adhere, then add white and orange sprinkles; set the completed hat pieces aside.
  6. Pipe the green frosting into the center of each chocolate cupcake, keeping the frosting toward the center and winding up in a few layers to form a short cone.
  7. Place an Oreo witch-hat on top of each piped frosting cone. Refrigerate the assembled cupcakes covered until ready to serve.

Notes

Reserve ½ cup of frosting in a small bowl for the orange details and tint the larger portion green and the reserved portion orange. Split 6 Oreo cookies into 12 halves to make the hat brims; place a small dab of orange frosting on each half, top with a Hershey's kiss, and add sprinkles before placing on the cupcakes. Refrigerate the assembled cupcakes covered to set the frosting and keep them fresh.
