Question 1

Can I freeze these before or after baking?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Freeze wrapped, unbaked poppers on a sheet pan until firm, then transfer to a sealed bag for up to 1 month. Bake from frozen, adding a few minutes to the bake time. You can also freeze leftovers after baking; reheat from frozen in a 350°F oven until warmed through.

Question 2

Can I use different peppers?

Accepted Answer

Yes—use mini sweet peppers for a milder, sweeter popper or poblano halves for a smokier, larger option. Adjust seed removal and baking time if using larger peppers.

Question 3

Are the candy eyes safe to bake?

Accepted Answer

Place candy eyes on after baking; most candy eyes will melt or distort in the oven, so pressing them onto the warm filling after baking gives the best look.
