Air Fryer Chicken Thighs

Crispy-skinned, juicy air-fried chicken thighs seasoned with smoked paprika, garlic, and Italian herbs. They cook in about 12 minutes for 4-ounce thighs—use a meat thermometer and adjust time for larger pieces.

Total Time:17 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 small chicken thighs skin-on fillets. See notes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, toss the chicken with the olive oil, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, and garlic powder until evenly coated.
  3. Place the chicken in a single layer in the air fryer basket, skin side up; cook at 400°F (200°C) for 12 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  4. Remove the chicken thighs from the air fryer and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Chicken thighs and cooking time: I’m using 4-ounce chicken thighs, which cook in precisely 12 minutes. Larger thighs will take longer. Use a meat thermometer to double-check.
Boneless skinless chicken thighs: Works, but check at the 10-minute mark.
TO STORE: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to five days.
TO FREEZE: Place the cooked and cooled chicken in a ziplock bag and store it in the freezer for up to three months.
TO REHEAT: Thaw the frozen air fryer chicken thighs overnight before reheating in the air fryer, oven, or even microwave.
